EARTH SEED Special Screening
“In partnership, People's Kitchen Collective (PKC), Lacuna Giving Circle & AAPIP-SF Bay Area are proud to present a community screening of PKC's incredible documentary, EARTH SEED, at the New Parkway Theater in Oakland.
EARTH SEED: A People’s Journey of Radical Hospitality is a pilgrimage through California from present-day Los Angeles to the Mendocino Woodlands, highlighting the people and places and organizations who have wrestled with “a timely inquiry, if not its own urgent prayer, 'What is the future of survival?'” and have forged models for survival and a collective future. Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower series, the living legacies of the Black Panther Party for Self Defense, and the diaspora of the global south serve as canonical wisdom for PKC’s journey, offering glimpses of true solidarity, resistance, people-powered liberation through care and love. From this journey, the People’s Kitchen Collective defines and shares its belief in radical hospitality as a strategy to address urgent social issues for today’s frontlines of activists of color, artists, educators, farmers, youth, and elders who are dreaming, reimagining, and building survival practices for tomorrow.
We are excited to come together to share the beautiful, creative, and just vision of EARTH SEED with our AAPIP community and your families. To foster community-building and -engagement, a reception will follow after the screening with refreshments from PKC and community leaders and members.”
